Homemade Bread!!!

Today we are making Bread…

Recipe

Flour 500grams

Sugar 80g plus 1tablespoon

Egg 1 large

Magarine 60grams

Milk flavour(powdered) 1tablespoon

Vanilla butter flavour 1/2tablespoon

Water 1 &1/2 cup

Yeast 1tablespoon

Let’s get started!!!

First of all, we will prove our yeast in warm water.

P.S. yeast are living organisms and can thrive in warm environment. So the liquid must be warm (your hand should be able to stand in the water for about 3 seconds without burning you)

Your finger should be able to stay in the warm water for a few seconds

We will add our yeast and a tablespoon of sugar to 1 cup of warm water. Leave to proof for not more than 10 minutes till it foams like in the picture below.

The yeast should foam like this or be milky

Measure out your dry ingredients

  • Flour 500g(sieve)
  • Milk powder 1tablespoon
  • Magarine 60grams
500grams flour
60grams magarine -1tbsp milk powder
  • Add Egg
  • 1/2 tablespoon of vanilla flavour (I used vanilla butternut flavour
  • Pour in 80grams of granulated sugar and a pinch of salt.
  • Begin to mix in till it is breadcrumblike in nature.
Mix till it is breadcrumblike
  • Begin to add your liquid start by adding the yeast mixture
Add your yeast mixture
  • Add your 1/2 cup warm water (or less if you feel it’s could be too watery)
Add more warm water till lightly sticky dough it formed
  • Once a dough is formed turn it over to a work surface and knead for about 30 minutes.
  • Rub magarine on your palm when kneading to avoid the dough from sticking to the table. (You can use vegetable oil) P.S. You can also used flour to dust when kneading but not too much so that your bread won’t turn out hard.
Knead like this
Knead until dough is stretchy like in the picture on the bottom right above
  • Now it’s time to let it rest for ONE full hour in a warm dark place(I used my oven) until it doubles or triples in size.
  • After ONE hour mould into balls and let it rest for 30 minutes. Then bake!
  • After 15 minutes of baking, bring it out of the oven and rub on saltless magarine over the surface and put it back in the oven to bake for another 10-15 minutes.
Rub magarine over the surface of the half done bread
  • Viola! It’s done, HOT and yummy 😋😋😋😋. Ready to serve with tea, beans, moimoi, and any other delicacy of your choice.
